Find answers to your questions
Why not simply throw my documents in the trash or recycle them?
Trash cans are easily accessible to third parties. A document thrown in the trash can be enough to commit identity theft or sensitive data theft. Additionally, recycling companies are not designed to guarantee confidentiality: your documents can be sorted by hand and potentially viewed before destruction. Secure destruction eliminates this risk completely.
What types of paper documents can you destroy?
We destroy all types of paper documents: client files, contracts, invoices, medical records, HR files, correspondence, archived documents, flyers, commercial documentation, etc. No need to sort: we destroy documents, cardboard boxes, folders, staples and everything else. Everything is shredded together in a secure manner.
Do I need to sort my documents or remove staples before destruction?
No. You do not need to sort your documents or remove staples, paper clips, cardboard folders or small filing cabinets. Our shredding trucks are designed to destroy all these elements at the same time, which saves you time while guaranteeing secure destruction.
Are my documents destroyed directly on my site or transported elsewhere?
Katana operates exclusively on-site, in specialized shredding trucks. Your documents never leave your premises before being destroyed, which eliminates any risk of leakage during transport. You can witness the destruction and receive a report confirming the operation.
Will I receive proof that my documents have been properly destroyed?
Yes. At the end of each intervention, we provide an intervention report that certifies the date and volumes destroyed. This document is essential to prove your compliance in case of legal or regulatory audit. Upon simple request, we can also provide you with a destruction and recycling certificate.
Is document destruction legally mandatory in Switzerland?
Yes. The nLPD (new Federal Data Protection Act) as well as the European GDPR — applicable if you process data of EU citizens — require you to destroy confidential documents irreversibly. Non-compliance with these obligations can result in heavy penalties. Secure destruction helps you remain compliant.
What is the difference between recurring destruction and one-time destruction?
Recurring destruction includes the rental of secure containers with a defined collection frequency (weekly, monthly) or on-call if your volumes vary greatly: as soon as a container is full, you schedule an intervention.
One-time destruction is an on-demand service, ideal for exceptional volumes (relocation, site closure, sorting of old archives) or an annual “clean-up”.
What happens to the paper after destruction?
Once shredded, the paper chips are compacted into bales and sent to certified recyclers near you. This approach reduces the environmental impact of destruction while guaranteeing that data remains unrecoverable.
How can I request a one-time destruction service?
Contact us via our online form or by telephone at 058 268 31 90. Indicate the volume and type of documents to be destroyed. We provide you with a free quote with no obligation, and once validated, we organize the collection and destruction at dates that suit you.
